GCC Table Tennis Organising Committee Moves to Qatar for 4-year Period

QNA

The organizing committee of the GCC table tennis has officially moved to Qatar for a period of 4 years from (2021-2025) headed by Engineer Ali Sultan Al Muftah, the assistant secretary of the Qatar Table Tennis Association. Its headquarters will also move to Doha during this session, and its secretary-general will also be appointed from Qatar.

The last session was hosted by the UAE for a period of 4 years from 2017 until 2021. The GCC General Secretariat approved the transfer of the headquarters during the new session to the State of Qatar after coordination and approval by the Qatar Olympic Committee.

Qatar is the first country to host the headquarters and chair of the GCC table tennis organizing committee.

The organizing committee will start its work immediately in cooperation with the various GCC Olympic committees, as the committee strongly targets the active return of the game, especially since the Gulf championships have been suspended since 2017, as no Gulf championship was organized since then, whether at the level of the age groups or clubs and teams.

The headquarters of the GCC table tennis organizing committee joins the headquarters of the Arab federation which is hosted by Qatar and headed by president of the Qatari and Arab federations Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi.

Head of the organizing committee Engineer Ali Sultan Al Muftah expressed great happiness at the return of the committee's headquarters to Qatar, hoping that the coming period will witness the return of the spirit of table tennis at the GCC level.

Al Muftah stressed that the activities of the organizing committee in the coming period will not be limited to men, but will include women and age groups as well, and hard work to develop the game.
