WTT Contender: Qatar’s women doubles players beaten in Round of 16

Host Qatar’s challenge in the women’s doubles came to an abrupt end at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender in WTT Middle East Hub here on Wednesday.

The duo of Maha and Maryam Ali were beaten by Singapore’s Ye Lin and Mengyu Yu 11-2, 11-3, 11-5 in the Round of 16 clash.

In another match, Aia Mohamed Majdi and Maha Faramarzi failed to throw up a challenge to Thailand’s Orawan Paranang and Suthasini Sawett.

The Qatari pair lost 5-11, 2-11, 3-11.

The tournament will conclude on Saturday with the finals of five categories — men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

A total of 32 matches were held in the Round of 16 for men’s and women’s singles and mixed doubles including the men’s and women’s doubles quarterfinals.
