Islam Makhachev reveals how he will defeat Dustin Poirier

UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev is preparing to ddefend his title against dustin Poirier at UFC 302.

Islam Makhachev will return and lock horns with former UFC interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier this summer at the next pay-per-view, UFC 302. The event is set to take place on June 1, 2024, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, United States.

Makhachev, regarded as the pound for pound number one fighter, views Dustin as an opponent with weaknesses on the ground. In an interview, Makhachev outlined his strategy, intending to initiate takedowns, defend against Poirier’s guillotine choke attempts, and capitalize on openings for strikes and submissions. Islam Makhachev said he had 'Something Special' planned for Dustin Poirier.  Poirier, who previously faced Khabib Nurmagomedov for the championship, acknowledges Makhachev’s formidable skills, particularly in jiu-jitsu and striking. He considers Makhachev a more versatile threat than Nurmagomedov.
