Umm Salal coach Patrice Carteron spoke to the media ahead of their 2023-2024 season Expo Stars League Week 17 match against Al Rayyan.
“The preparations were good after the Al Shamal match in the last round and everyone is working well and there is competition between all the players in order to participate in the game. This is a good thing and I am very pleased with the way they work in training.
“I spoke with the players and asked them to focus on the match against Al Rayyan and forget the Al Shamal game in the last round, and to learn from the mistakes that occurred in that match after we failed in many things during that match.
“I told the players that we must be positive and prepared for the upcoming matches with great and strong positivity, and we must enter the Al Rayyan match with confidence and we are capable of achieving a positive result with motivation, confidence and the team’s capabilities.
“We must fight to win this important match against a well-prepared team and we all know the difficulty of the opponents, and we respect them. I have great confidence in the players to correct the mistakes that occurred in the previous match and not repeat them,” said Carteron.
Umm Salal player Hossam Kamal said, “All players are ready to perform at the required level in the Al Rayyan match. Competitor are a strong team, but we are ready and we promise our fans to win the three points.
“It is indeed a difficult match and the loss to Al Shamal in the last match was a page that was completely closed. We learned the lesson well and hoped to make up for it in this match. We need to focus. Nothing is impossible in football and our goal is points.”
