UFC 298 medical suspensions: Henry Cejudo among 9 fighters suspended 180 days

Saturday’s UFC pay-per-view event in Anaheim, Calif. was not a good night to be a limb.

UFC 298 took place at Anaheim, Calif. and featured 12 bouts and 24 fighters. Nine of those fighters were handed six-month suspensions as a result of injuries sustained in their bouts. Eight of those potential injuries were deemed possible fractures.

Monday, California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive director Andy Foster, who oversaw the event, provided MMA Junkie with a full list of medical suspensions.

Miranda Maverick: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Andrea Lee: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Oban Elliott: Suspended 45 days with no exception for 30 days due to hard bout.

Val Woodburn: Suspended 45 days with no exception for 30 days due to hard bout.

Danny Barlow: Suspended 180 days for possible left forearm fracture; also suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception due to hard bout.

Josh Quinlan: Suspended 180 days for CT scan; also suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception for TKO.

Mingyang Zhang: Suspended 180 days for possible right hand fracture.

Brendson Ribeiro: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception for TKO.

Rinya Nakamura: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Carlos Vera: Suspended 180 days for possible shoulder fracture.

Marcos Rogerio de Lima: Suspended 180 days for possible right foot fracture.

Junior Tafa: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception for TKO.

Amanda Lemos: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception due to hard bout.

Mackenzie Dern: Suspended 180 days for possible left leg fracture; also suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception due to hard bout.

Anthony Hernandez: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Roman Kopylov: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Merab Dvalishvili: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Henry Cejudo: Suspended 180 days for possible left forearm fracture.

Ian Machado Garry: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Geoff Neal: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Robert Whittaker: Suspended 180 days for possible hand fracture; also suspended 60 days for multiple lacerations; also suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception for hard bout.

Paulo Costa: Suspended 180 days for possible right foot/leg fracture; also suspended 60 days for laceration, also suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception for hard bout.


Ilia Topuria: Suspended seven days for mandatory rest.

Alexander Volkanovski: Suspended 45 days with 30 days no exception for knockout.
