Germany need to beat Costa Rica to have a chance for qualifying for the Round of 16.
Germany are also at the bottom of the group, having only secured one point in their two matches.
Spain top the group with four points, ahead of Japan and Costa Rica, who both have three points.
Costa Rica started their World Cup campaign with a devastating 7-0 loss to Spain, but came back to unexpectedly beat Japan 1-0.
If they defeat Germany, and if Spain beat Japan, they will finish second in the group, making it to the Round of 16.
