Switzerland and Cameroon kick-off their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 today, in the opening match of Group G. The match will take place at Al Janoub Stadium.

Switzerland are ranked 15 by FIFA, while Cameroon come in at number 43.

Switzerland have appeared at the World Cup finals 11 times, the first being in 1934. This year is their fifth consecutive World Cup appearance.

Cameroon have been in the World Cup finals six times, their first appearance being in 1982. In 1990, they reached the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Cameroon reached the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, where Egypt knocked them out on penalties.

Switzerland lost their last friendly to Ghana, 2-0. Last year, they also reached the Euro 2020 quarterfinals for the first time in their history and came painfully close to making in into the semifinals, losing to Spain on penalties.

Players to look out for during the match are Swiss Captain Granit Xhaka and Cameroonian Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Kick-off is at 13:00 Doha time.
