The World Table Tennis Foundation (WTT) announced that the WTT International Youth Star Contender Championship will be held in Qatar from March 7 to 11 at Lusail Multipurpose Sports Hall. The competitions will be held in a separate category which has been established for singles and doubles competitions for under 15-year old for both Boys and Girls, as well as singles and doubles competitions for ages under 19 (for both Boys and Girls).
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Table Tennis Federation and registration process has officially begun until Feb. 11, amid strict precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Advanced players are selected based on the highest ranking, most contested tournaments, and international ranking. In the preliminary rounds, the lower ranked players play international tournaments and matches.
In addition, ITTF confirmed that the QTTA, headed by Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, is considered one of the best international federations, which is trusted by all, and that the tournaments hosted by Qatar are always characterized by an excellent technical and administrative level, as well as a high attendance and participation rate of the best players around the world.
On the other hand, the men's league championship competitions for the 2021/22 sports season will start on Monday, in the training center hall in Ras Abu Aboud, amid strict precautionary measures to limit the spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19).
Five matches will be held in the first round of the tournament, starting at 5:15, where Al Sadd face Al Shamal, Al Arabi against Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah and Al Ahli, Al Khor match, and the competitions will conclude with Qatar SC match against Al Shamal at 6:30 pm.
Qatar SC holds the title for the 2020/2021 sports season, after defeating Al Sadd 4-2 which is the fourth title in its history and the third in succession.
