There will be no group activities or contact sports during this Qatar National Sport Day (NSD), the organisers said.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Culture and Sports on Monday, the NSD organising committee said the National Sport Day conditions and requirements announced on January 26 have been amended based on public health indicators to avoid any further spread of Covid-19 and ensure the safety of all. This has been done in co-ordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

It has been decided that this year’s NSD will feature only individual and outdoor sports activities with a maximum of four participants allowed. Physical distancing of at least 3m has to be maintained.

It is not allowed to organise group activities and sports where there is a possibility of contact/proximity among the players and where it is not possible to maintain physical distance, the statement explains.

Besides, it is not allowed to organise any activities inside closed halls.

The Sport Day committee has called on State institutions in the country not to hold NSD activities in places where there could be crowding, Qatar News Agency adds.

The committee has also urged people to fully comply with the Covid-19 precautionary and preventive measures and strictly follow the MoPH protocol, stressing the importance of safely practising sports for the wellbeing of people and good health.
