Fath Al Khair 5 crew arrives at HIA, welcomed by joyful reception

The crew of Fath Al Khair 5 arrived yesterday at Hamad International Airport, returning from its journey that began on July 4, which included the coasts of Malta, Italy, France and Spain, with the aim of introducing the Qatari maritime heritage and promoting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

They were received in a joyful reception by Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Cultural Village Foundation, Katara General Manager; Ahmed Abdullah Al Hitmi, Katara Beach Manager, their families and the media. Dr. Al Sulaiti praised the crew and their determination in completing the trip and achieving its goals, where he said: “Katara is keen to promote the Qatari heritage, and one of its most important goals was to preserve and publicise it, and the Fath Al Khair 5 journey was an important step in achieving this goal in addition to its mission in promoting the World Cup Qatar 2022.” Nokhdha Muhammad Al Sada said: “We have covered a distance of 5,238 kilometers during the journey that lasted nearly 40 days, during which we faced many challenges and climatic difficulties between changing the direction of the air per day from four to five times, this is in addition to hurricanes between regions, especially in the mountains near the coast. With the grace of God Almighty and the determination of Alizuh, we were able to overcome it and move towards our goal with enthusiasm and pleasure.” 

He pointed out that the public interacted greatly with the trip in all the ports where they stopped. Al Sada also revealed that there were some fans who followed the course of the trip in more than one port.

The 17-member Yazwa meanwhile expressed their happiness after completing the trip. Youssef Abdel Rahman, one of the Yazwa on the Fath Al Khair 5 journey said: “We were all of one heart and everyone cooperated. Despite the hardship and difficulties, we were happy and enjoyed this journey to further promote the Qatari maritime heritage and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”
