Qatar Tennis Squash Badminton Federation (QTSBF) has signed a new partnership contract with QTerminals to sponsor Qatar Classic, PSA World Tour Platinum event.

The agreement was signed by QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Darwish Zainal and QTerminals Chief Executive Officer Neville Bissett.

As per this new partnership, QTerminals will be the title sponsor of Qatar Classic, which has had attracted the top players over the last several years.

On this occasion, Zainal welcomed the QTerminalson onboard.

“It is my pleasure to announce that QTerminals is the title sponsors of Qatar Classic, PSA World Tour Platinum event,” Zainal said while addressing the mediapersons yesterday.

“Qatar Classic has become one of the most important tennis tournaments in the region and through the cooperation with our partners, we hope our tournament can reach new levels of success and help promote Doha as a major destination for hosting international sporting events.”

Zainal also emphasized this partnership reflects the commitment of the QTSBF and QTerminals to develop squash in the state of Qatar and supporting Qatar Classic, which is one of the most prominent squash events in the region and world will help in a long way in promoting and grooming local talent.

He took the opportunity to extent sincere thanks to QTerminals led by Neville to support squash and tennis events over the years.

“QTerminals have supported squash and tennis in the past by associating us as sponsors, so we have had a long association and we wish to thank them for their continued support to our tournaments,” Zainal said.

This year’s QTerminals Qatar Classic will take place from October 17 to 23 at Qatar Squash Federation and will held as per the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) guidelines, informed Zainal.

“All the health protocols as mandated by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) will be in place during the tournament and will be implemented,” he said.

Bissett said it was a natural progression for them to step in as the Qatar Classic title sponsors.

“We like to promote sports and a healthy lifestyle. We already sponsor women’s tennis and some cricket tournaments internally. Personally, I love squash. So when the opportunity came up to sponsor such a prestigious event, we didn’t want to pass it up,” he said.

The event will see 48 of the world’s leading male players battling it out for the $187,500 prize-money from October 17 to 23.

Incidentally, this is the second year QTSBT is hosting the Qatar Classic by following the MOPH guidelines.

This year World No.2 Mohamed ElShorbagy is the top seed of the tournament while British Open winner Paul Coll is No.2 seed for the tournament. Former world champion Tarek Momen and Marwan, younger brother of Mohamed ElShorbagy are the other top players to watch out in the tournament.
