Qatari driver Nasser bin Saleh Al Attiyah looks to continue his great performance this season as he will be eyeing the Middle East Rally Championship when he competes on Friday in the 50th edition of the Cyprus International Rally, the fourth round of the 2021 season, which will last for three days.

The rally's activities will start on Thursday evening with the exhibition stage and the opening ceremony with the participation of 32 crews from the host country Cyprus, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan and France.

Al Attiyah, accompanied by his French navigator, Mathieu Baumel, in a Volkswagen Polo GTIR Rally2 car, will be the most prominent candidate to win the title of the rally, which will witness the participation of 6 drivers and 3 Arab navigators.

Al Attiyah leads the overall standings for the drivers of the Middle East Championship with the full score of 120 points, which he gained from two wins in Qatar and Jordan, and his second place in the Lebanon Rally behind the Lebanese title winner Roger Feghali.

The rally will witness the participation of Omani Hamad Al Wahaibi, who won the Middle East Championship for Group N cars in 1997 and returned to competition after an absence of 10 years.

Also participating will be Qatari Nasser Khalifa Al Attiyah, and Kuwaiti Meshary Al Dhafiri with his Qatari navigator Nasser Saadoun Al Kuwari in the championship ERC2 for Group N cars, Abdullah Al Rawahi with his regular Jordanian navigator Atta Al Hamad, and Jordanian Asim Aref with his compatriot Ahmed Jan Khout.
