The World Stars Professional Table Tennis Championship, (WTT Star Contender) organized by the Qatar Table Tennis Association in cooperation with the World Table Tennis Foundation (WTT), continued at Lusail Sports Hall and will continue until next Friday.

About 260 male and female players representing 34 countries participate in the tournament, amid strict precautionary measures to limit the spread of the CORONA virus (COVID-19), as the health bubble system has been applied to all participants.

Competitions witnessed today the main roles, as the 64th round competitions began in the singles category, which witnessed a very strong level among all participants with the entry of strong ranked.

The most prominent surprise in the "men's singles" was the victory of the 35-year-old Portuguese Thiago Luna, ranked No. 60 in the world, over Japan's Oda Yukaya, ranked No. 40 in the world, 3-1.

As for the results of the Qatari team players, Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi, ranked No. 346, lost to South Korean Lim Jong-hoon, ranked No. 47 , with a score of 0-3. Muhammad Abdel Wahab, ranked No. 370 in the world, also lost to Croatian Andrei Jachina, ranked No. 48 in the world, with the same result.

The Qatar Table Tennis Association, headed by Khalil Al Mohannadi, held a ceremony honoring the players of the national table tennis team, who achieved positive results in the Arab Championship hosted by the Jordanian capital, Amman, during the period from August 10 to 23.

Al Mohannadi praised the achievements of the national team, which confirm that Qatari table tennis has recently imposed itself and is constantly present on the Arab podiums.
