Qatar were the guest team of this year’s Gold Cup and didn’t disappoint, scoring 12 goals in five matches. Ali was a big part of that with his quartet of goals.
The Gold Cup award is the second Ali has won at a continental tournament, having emerged the top scorer at the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 with a record nine goals, including a brilliant opener in the 3-1 win over Japan in the final.
Ali's goals played a pivotal part in Qatar advancing to the Gold Cup semi-finals, with the striker scoring twice in the group stage and a brace in the 3-2 quarter-final win against El Salvador.
Qatar's brilliant run was eventually stopped by the United States, who defeated Mexico 1-0 in the final on Sunday to lift the Gold Cup for a seventh time.
