 AL-GHAZALI TAKES BIG TOUR TITLE

Nasser al-Ghazali won the Big Tour title during the eighth round of the Hathab equestrian national series yesterday.

At Al Shaqab arena, Al-Ghazali piloted his horse Aslan 69 to victory in a time of 40.68 seconds in the 1.30/1.45 class.

Saeed Nasser al-Qadi astride Daydreamer EC came second, followed by Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi on Vivaldi K in third.

In the Open Class, Mohamed Said Haidan on Apple Bee walked away with the top honours. The pair’s winning time was 25.38 seconds, 0.22 seconds ahead of runner-up Khalid Mohamed al-Emadi and Ambre De Beaufour.

The third place went to Hamad Nasser al-Qadi with Cuando Z, with the duo coming home in 26.36 seconds. On Friday night, the medium tour title was clinched by Jaber Rashid al-Amri astride Canavaro De Muze (ET), with the pair ? nishing the round in 64.56 seconds. Saeed Nasser al-Qadi (Daydreamer EC) and Mohamed al-Ghazali (Alegro 84) finished second and third respectively.

A brainchild of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Hathab was a runaway success in its inaugural season. The series – worth QR1mn in overall prize money – provides an opportunity for young riders from Qatar to gain experience and test themselves against other best talents in the country over a gruelling 12 legs, which is spread over six months.
