Qatar's Volleyball Team Reaches 3rd Round Final of Cancun Island Beach Tournament

Qatar's first beach volleyball team has qualified for the final match of the third round of the Cancun Island World Beach Volleyball Tournament 2021 (men and women) in Mexico. 

The Qatari national team, consisting of the duo Sherif Yunus and Ahmed Tejan, qualified after defeating the American duo Phil Dalhouser and Nick Lucena in two clean runs of 21-15 and 21-17 in the match that was held today in the semi-finals. 

In the final match, the Qatari national team will meet the Russian duo Konstantin Semenov and Ilya Lichukov, who qualified after baItalian duo Adrian Carambola and Enrico Rossi in two to one game. 

The Qatari national team, consisting of the duo Sherif Yunus and Ahmed Tejan, won the silver medal in the first and second rounds of the Cancun Island / World Beach Volleyball Tournament 2021, and advanced in the world ranking, as it came in tenth place with 5080 points according to the updated classification in  Last April 27 by the International Federation of the Game. 

As for the classification of the teams that will qualify directly for the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, the Qatari team ranked ninth after collecting 7,000 points.  According to the declared classification, the Qatari team guarantees one of the seats that qualify directly for the Olympics, according to the International Federation of the Game. 

It is noteworthy that the Qatari team has become one of the best teams in the world thanks to the results it has achieved in recent years, and has previously participated in the Olympic Games held in Brazil Rio 2016.
