Commercial Bank, the Title Sponsor of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, and Education City Golf Club (ECGC) have successfully concluded a fantastic golf tournament which took place at the ECGC brand-new course.

After what was a truly captivating final day of the event, Commercial Bank’s Board Member Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad bin Jassim Al Thani, and GCEO Joseph Abraham presented the Mother of Pearl trophy to Antoine Rozner as he emerged the winner of the tournament yesterday. Rozner was also granted a financial award of $228,048.

The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is an annual golf tournament that is part of the European Tour, where many of the world’s top golfers compete. Commercial Bank’s sponsorship of the Qatar Masters for the 16th consecutive year provided not only a world-class sporting tournament to visitors, but also a range of exciting hospitality for adults.

Joseph Abraham, Group Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank stated: “The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is a premier European tour golf event sponsored by Commercial Bank over the last 16 years and demonstrates our support to Qatar’s Vision to be a global sports hub and host to major international sporting events.”

VIP guests attending the tournament had the chance to visit the exclusive Commercial Bank Majlis which overlooks impeccable views and landscapes. And, from the Commercial Bank’s chalet, guests watched and enjoyed the tournament and the atmosphere.

During the past month, Commercial Bank teamed up with ECGC to support local schools in providing golf training to Physical Education teachers. A team of golf professionals from ECGC paid the Gulf English School a visit and distributed SNAG kits to the teachers after having trained them on how to use the kit.

Commercial Bank donated ten customized SNAG kit bags that include enough equipment to train up to 16 teachers at a time. Moreover, Pro-Am tournaments were held before the start of the official CBQM in order to give amateur players a chance to compete alongside professional golfers and learn more about the golf field of ECGC.

This year, due to the pandemic situation, Commercial Bank put the health and safety of the community on the top of its priorities. Though the pandemic did not stand in the way of the tournament, the Bank was keen on delivering a safe tournament.

Apropos of the tournament and its dedicated campaign conducted by the Bank and ECGC, Hussein Al Abdulla, EGM and Chief Marketing Officer at Commercial Bank said: “For another year, Commercial Bank Qatar Masters has proven successful.

Our campaign which included numerous activations and events has helped the public to get more familiar with the golf and its spirit. The tournament has been an excellent showcase for Education City Golf Club and golf in Qatar, as all the participants in this spectacular event have praised our facility and the outstanding organization of the event.”

Al Abdulla continued emphasizing: “The event which was broadcasted on TVs was fantastic and the social media exposure has been remarkable. This tournament provided us with a unique platform to help us accomplish our mission to grow the game of golf here in Qatar and become an active player in the international tourist market. And, as we look forward to more successful tournaments in the future, I would like to extend my gratitude to all of our proud sponsors without whom we wouldn’t have achieved such success.”
