Qatar handball squad yesterday continued with its preparation for a series of assignments in the next two months that concludes with the 2021 World Championship to be held in Egypt in January.

Coached by Valero Rivera, Qatar earlier this year won the Asian Championship held in Kuwait where Al Annabi beat South Korea in the final.

Qatar have established themselves as the dominant Asian force since then, besides winning the Asian title thrice and reaching the World Championship final on home soil in 2015.

A powerhouse of the sport, Qatar squad will play two international friendly games this month before appearing in a Four-Nation Series that will feature continental giants Spain (European champions) and Argentina (South American champions) and Tunisia (Africa champions).

The Four-Nation International Series will be held from Dec 25-29 at Duhail Indoor Sports Hall.

Coach Rivera is managing the 22-player squad at Al Duhail Sports Hall in two sessions daily. The 2021 World Handball Championship will be held from Jan 13 to 31. Qatar are placed in the Group C of the 2021 World Championship along with Angola, Japan and Croatia.

Qatar will open the group phases against Angola on January 15 at 5:30pm Qatar time and the 2nd match with Japan on January 17 at the same time. In the third clash, Qatar will face Croatia on January 19 at 8:00pm.
