The Women's Basketball League, organized by the Qatar Women's Sports Committee in cooperation with the Qatar League for the Game, will begin today November 9, 2020, and will be held until December 24, 2020.
Eight teams are scheduled to participate in this year’s competition, as the team will be split into two groups. In Group A are the Pinay Ballers Qatar, Hustlers, Space Jam Team and pro Sports. In Group B we have Qatar Women National, Fighters, QB hoops and Boom Generals.
Matches from Group A kicks off today as the Pinay Ballers Qatar take on the Hustlers at 17:30 Doha time, followed by Space Jam Team versus pro Sports at 19:30.
"Group system"
League matches will be played in two stages following a group system, where the second stage of competitions will be held in accordance with the results of the first stage.
The second stage will be held in a group system as well, as the first group will include the first and second places in Group A and B of the first stage, as the teams will play amongst themselves in order to determine the team that will move on to the finals and eventually wins the championship. Meanwhile, the second group will determine the fifth to eight positions in the league.
Salha Al Nuaimi, Director of the Qatar National Teams at the Qatar Women's Sports Committee, expressed her happiness at the return of the committee’s sporting activity after a long hiatus as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, adding that the basketball league competitions this season will take place in a short period of time, just over a month and a half, at the Aspire Zone gym on Mondays and Thursdays.
