Qatar Handball Team Sets Up Training Camp in Spain Before World Championship

The Qatari handball team will organize an outdoor training camp in Spain from Jan. 6-9, 2021. The camp will be the last stop in the team's preparation before participating in the 2021 IHF Men's World Championship in Egypt from Jan. 13-31. 

The team is scheduled to begin training in November and during the preparation period they will compete in the Qatar International Handball Championship scheduled from Dec. 25-29 with the participation of European champions Spain, South American champions Argentina and Tunisia. 

The Qatari handball team qualified for the 2021 IHF Men's World Championship after winning the 2020 Asian Men's Handball Championship in Kuwait by defeating South Korea 33-21 in the final. Qatar has been crowned winner of the tournament four times: in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020. Qatar's participation in the 2021 IHF Men's World Championship will be their eighth outing after participating in: 2003 in Portugal, 2005 in Tunisia, 2007 in Germany, 2013 in Spain, 2015 in Qatar, 2017 in France and 2019 in Germany and Denmark, with second place in 2015 being the team's best result in its history.
