The Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain attended the GCC Olympic Committees Secretaries-Generals workshop via videoconference on Tuesday.
The workshop was organised by the GCC Secretariat General to discuss the effects of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the sports sector at the GCC nations. During the workshop, Al Buenain thanked the GCC Secretariat General for holding the workshop to focus on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the GCC sports sector and wished the meeting achieve its goals.
The meeting also discussed the measures taken by the GCC nations and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on sports activities and the Olympic movement in general.
Moreover, the participants reviewed the means to tackle the current and expected challenges of the pandemic, as well as arrangements for the return of sports activities at the national, GCC, and international levels.
The workshop came up with several recommendations and suggestions, to be submitted to the Council of Presidents of the GCC National Olympic Committees at their next meeting.
