QMMF President hails online racing championships

QNA

President of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), Abdulrahman Al Mannai stressed that organising online racing championships “either car or motorcycle categories” is within the framework of the QMMF’s keenness to diversify its various activities and competitions, in addition to contributing to developing participants and linking them to their sport, discovering new talents and attracting them to practice sports.

Al Mannai said in a press statement that the online racing tournaments, a type of simulation of actual racing on the ground, help the contestants greatly to maintain their mental fitness, especially in light of the postponement of most of the championships locally or internationally after the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

He added that the Qatar online racing championship for cars, which was organized over the past weeks, has received a great turnout from the most prominent Qatari contestants, and has achieved unparalleled success, prompting the QMMF to launch a second motorcycle championship and adopt them as part of the Federation’s activities for the season (2020-2021).

The QMMF President expected that more excitement will be witnessed in Qatar online racing championship for the motorcycle category, which will be held in the second half of the holy month of Ramadan, pointing out that there are many distinguished motorcycle racers in Qatar, especially members of the Qatar Motorsports Academy.

He noted that Qatar online racing championship during its various stages provided the competitors with great experiences to drive on different tracks in all parts of the world along with the use of different models of cars, which will benefit them on the ground in the future during their participation in the real races.

Al Mannai also pointed out that special prizes were allocated to the winners in the Qatar online racing championship, expecting that the two tournaments will in the coming years see a great development in terms of the number of participants or the technology used.
