Qatar Taekwondo, Judo & Karate Federation postpones 2020 IJF Masters

The Qatar Taekwondo, Judo & Karate Federation (QTJKF) has announced on Sunday the postponement of the 2020 IJF Masters which was planned to take place from 28-30 May in Doha, that due to coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

QTJKF’s postponement’s decision came in response to the request of  International Judo Federation (IJF), where the championship’s new date will be confirmed later.

It is worth mentioning that, the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo & Karate Federation (QTJKF) announced that it will host the championship, after it has signed agreement with the IJF in Hungary’s capital of Budapest in October 2018.

The championship acts as the biggest among world Judo events,  will attract the best 16 world top seed athletes from each weight also acts as a qualifying tournament for 2020 Tokyo Olympics which also has been postponed for next year.

Doha will also host the 2023 World Judo Championships for individual athletes and teams, a qualifying tournament for 2024 Olympic Games which will bring together athletes from more than 117 countries. Doha has received the honor of host these two major judo events due to its significant experience and its highly- praised reputation in hosting major international sport events.?
