Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy

For the fourth consecutive year, Qatari students in the UK participated in a football tournament sponsored by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC).

The tournament, which was organised by Qatar’s Cultural Attaché Office and the students themselves, took place at Powerleague Nine Elms in London and was attended by H.E. Yousef Al Khater, the Qatari Ambassador to the UK.

More than 120 students took part in the tournament, which aims to bring Qatari students together to enjoy football while showcasing plans and preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

Fourteen teams from ten different universities across the UK participated in the event, which was won by students from the University of Liverpool. The University of Hull were runners-up while defending champions the University of Huddersfield took third place.

Ali Mahmoud, the SC’s Head of Sport & Culture, said: “It was a pleasure to sponsor this tournament for the fourth consecutive year and engage with students about the latest preparations for Qatar 2022. It’s important we keep members of our community – whether they are based here or overseas – fully up-to-date with the latest news about the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world.”
