Al Sadd secured a crushing 8-0 victory over Manchester 62 from Gibraltar in their first friendly match during their pre-season camp, currently underway in Malaga, Spain.
Gonzalo Plata scored a hat-trick, Rafa Mujica netted a brace while Abdullah Al Yazidi, Pedro Miguel, and Giovanni Henrique added a goal each in their big win at Banus Training Centre in Malaga.
Al Sadd, who clinched their 17th League title last season in addition to an unprecedented 19th Amir Cup crown, will continue to train in Spain until July 29 before returning to Doha ahead of their opening Ooredoo Stars League match against Al Shamal at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on August 10.
Apart from that, Al Sadd are also gearing up for the brand new AFC Champions League Elite tournament, recently launched by the Asian Football Confederation. The top-tier competition will kick off in mid-September, featuring the best 24 teams from across Asia.
Meanwhile, Al Rayyan continued their pre-season training in the Netherlands. Al Rayyan will return to Doha on July 29. Al Wakrah also begin their overseas training camp in Spain on Sunday and will continue to train in Europe until August 1.
