Who scored the best goal in the world in 2022? We will soon find out, with the FIFA Puskás Award, one of the award categories of "The Best FIFA Football Awards", set to be handed out in February.

The Puskás award is given to the player who has scored the most aesthetically pleasing goal of the year, and this year, a total of 11 superb goals have been shortlisted, with Mbappé’s strike against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final and Richarlison’s goal against Serbia in their Group G match of the World Cup making the list.

Also on the list are Mario Balotelli's goal for Adana Demirspor against Göztepe Spor Kulübü in the Turkish Süper Lig and Dimitri Payet's wonder strike against PAOK Thessaloniki in the UEFA Conference League.

Female players Amandine Henry, Salma Paralluelo, and Alessia Russo's goals are also in contention for the non-gender-based award, whose public voting is open on FIFA+ and will run until 23:59 CET on February 3, 2023.
