South Korea v Portugal Preview

Mayes Yousef

South Korea take on Portugal in a Group H fixture at Education City Stadium.

South Korea must win this match if they want to make the Round of 16.

Portugal have already secured a spot in the knock-out stage.

The two teams' last meeting was at the 2002 World Cup when South Korea won 1-0 on home soil, securing a spot in the Round of 16, eliminating Portugal.

This time, however, Portugal have the upper hand, having scored five goals in two matches and bagged six points. They will guarantee their place at the top of this group by avoiding defeat.

South Korea are heading into their final match with just one point.

If they want to secure a spot in the Round of 16, not only do they need a win against Portugal, but they also need Uruguay to beat Ghana, but narrowly.

South Korea and Uruguay both have one point, and if nothing changes in terms of points and goals, then a draw will determine qualification.

Kick-off is at 18:00 Doha time.

South Korea line-up: Kim Seung-gyu, Kim Moon-hwan, Kwon Kyung-won, Kim Young-gwon, Kim Jin-su, Lee Jae-sung, Lee Kang-in, Jeong Woo-yeong, Hwang In-beom, Son Heung-min, Cho Gue-sung.

Portugal line-up: Diogo Costa, Diogo Dalot, Pepe, Antonio Silva, Joao Cancelo, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, Joao Mario, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Horta.
