France v Tunisia Preview

Mayes Yousef

France and Tunisia will clash today in a Group D fixture at Education City Stadium.

To make it out of the group stage in their footballing history, Tunisia must win tonight’s match against France. Who have already secured a spot in the Round of 16.

Tunisia performed well in their first match against Demark, but their hard work on the pitch couldn’t secure them a goal, with the match ending in a goalless draw.

Tunisia have not scored in 27 shots at this year’s World Cup, which needs to change tonight, if they are to stand a chance of progressing in the tournament.

For Tunisia, it is an all-or-nothing match, as they need nothing less than a win against France in their final group stage game. But, it is still a chance because even if they win, Tunisia will still have to rely on the outcome of a simultaneously played Group D game to go their way.

If Australia beat Denmark in that other game, even a Tunisian win won’t help. However, if Australia draw with Denmark, then a Tunisian win would be enough for them to qualify.

Also, if Tunisia and Denmark both win their matches, they will be level on points and progression will depend on goal difference.

France head into this match having scored six goals in two games and only need a draw to secure the top spot in the group.

If France top the group, they will face the team that finishes second in Group C, which includes Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Poland and Mexico. If Tunisia qualify in second place, they will play the winners of Group C.

Kick-off is at 18:00 Doha time.
