Wales v England Preview

Mayes Yousef

Another politically-driven match today will be played between Wales and England, in Group B at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium.

This is the first World Cup that Wales have qualified for since 1958.

Their opening draw match with the US was reliant on a Gareth Bale penalty, and the loss to Iran, showed a team groping for calm and unity. To qualify now, Wales need to beat England, and hope the USA draw with Iran.

England, in the meantime, are quite more relaxed as they are Euro 2020 finalists, are ranked fifth in the world by FIFA, and are measured as a serious candidate for the title at this year’s tournament.

England have virtually qualified for the Round of 16.

The match kicks-off at 22:00 Doha time.

Wales line-up: Ward; Williams, Ampadu, Mepham, Rodon, Davies; Ramsey, Allen; Bale, Moore, James

England line-up: Pickford; Shaw, Maguire, Stones, Walker; Rice, Henderson, Bellingham; Rashford, Foden, Kane
