Portugal will take on Uruguay in the second round of group stage matches at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at Lusail Stadium at 10pm on Monday evening.

Portugal go into tonight’s match fresh off of a 3-2 win over Cameroon on Thursday night, whereas Uruguay had to settle for a 0-0 draw over South Korea.

This is the second FIFA World Cup meeting between the two sides, with Uruguay eliminating Portugal in the second round of the 2018 tournament in Russia.

Uruguay have won four of their last five FIFA World Cup matches against European nations - including a 2-1 victory over Portugal – whereas Portugal have won just one of their last nine meetings with South American nations.

Following their 3-2 win over Ghana, Portugal will be looking to win their opening two group games in a World Cup for the third time. The previous two occasions they achieved this, in 1966 and 2006, the team went on to reach the semi-final stages of the competition.

Portugal top group H with three points, whereas South Korea and Uruguay have a point each, and Ghana sits bottom of the group with zero points.

Portugal line-up: Costa, Cancelo, Dias, Pepe, Mendes, Silva, Neves, Carvalho, Fernandes, Ronaldo, Felix

Uruguay line-up: Rochet, Giminez, Godin, Coates, Olivera, Bentancur, Vecino, Valverde, Varela, Cavani, Nunez.
