South Korea vs Ghana Preview

Caitlin Dillon

The second round of Group H matches of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 get underway today, as South Korea take on Ghana at Education City stadium.

South Korea go into today second in the group with one point, having played out a 0-0 draw with Uruguay on Thursday night, whereas Ghana sit at the bottom of Group E with zero points after being beaten 3-2 by Portugal.

The sides have faced one another nine times over the last 40 years, each having won 4, lost 4 and drawn 1, however this will be their first meeting since an international friendly in 2014.

A loss for Ghana would see them exit the competition during the group stages for the second time running, having done the same in 2014.

Korea Republic, meanwhile, have failed to register a shot on target in two of their last four World Cup games, and have never won their second group stage game in any of their ten appearances at World Cup finals.

Portugal top Group H on 3 points, with Uruguay sitting in third with 1 point. Uruguay will face Portugal later today at Lusail Stadium at 10pm Doha time, following South Korea’s matchup with Ghana at 4pm.
