Croatia will clash with Canada in a Group F match at Khalifa International Stadium, for the third match of the day.
Both teams feel like they should have won their opening matches at this year’s World Cup and will be eager to get their campaigns started with today’s fixture.
Croatia, the 2018 finalists, held a goalless draw against Morocco as they fought to find the front-line in a game where chances were at a best.
Canada’s opening match, their fist in 36 years, saw their performance contradicted by their experience as their high press and sharp movement smothered Belgium. The Belgians conceded a penalty in only the 10th minute of the game, but the Maple Leafs’ star Alphonso Davies had his try saved by Thibaut Courtois.
While Canada’s youngsters are beginning to fly high, Croatia’s golden generation is beginning to descend, and quickly.
