Belgium v Morroco Preview

Mayes Yousef

The second match of the day sees Belgium take on Morocco in a Group F fixture at Al Thumama Stadium. This will be a key group-stage match.

Belgium were favourites coming into this year’s FIFA World Cup, but their performance, or lack thereof, against Canada on Wednesday may give Moroccan fans hope that their national team could win the match.

Despite being ranked second by FIFA, Belgium’s performance and form says otherwise.

The age of players is also beginning to show on the pitch, with their Golden Generation lustre wearing off.

Belgium beat Morocco 1-0 at the 1994 World Cup, the only time the two have met at the tournament.

Canada and Croatia, the two other teams in Group F, will play against each other in the following fixture.

The match kicks-off at 16:00 Doha time.

Belgium line-up: Courtois; Castagne, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Meunier, Onana, Witsel, T. Hazard; De Bruyne, Hazard; Batshuayi

Morocco line-up: Bounou; Hakimi, Aguerd, Saiss, Mazraoui; Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah; Ziyech, En-Nesyri, Boufal
