Portugal v Ghana Preview

Mayes Yousef

The second Group H match of the day sees Portugal take on Ghana at Stadium 974, at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Portugal have appeared in the finals of the FIFA World Cup seven times, the first being in 1966 where they came third.

Cristiano Ronlado has had his fair share of off-pitch issues recently, and with his abilities maybe declining because of his age, he still remains one of the best to play this sport. Hes also Portugal’s record goal scorer.

In spite of being ranked 61 globally by FIFA, the Black Stars, as Ghana are known, have a reputation of putting in good performances at FIFA age-grade competitions.

They will be eager to advance to the quarterfinals as they did back in 2010, perhaps even beyond.

Ghana secured qualification to Qatar 2022, their fourth appearance, over Nigeria due to the away goals rule, after a catastrophic showing at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, where they accumulated only a single point in a group with Morocco, Gabon, and Comoros.

Kick-off is at 19:00 Doha time.

Portugal line-up: Costa, Cancelo, Dias, Pereira, Guerreiro, Neves, Fernandes, Otavio, Silva, Ronaldo, Felix.

Ghana line-up: Ati-Zigi, Rahman, Salisu, Amartey, Djiku, Seidu, Ayew, Abdul Samed, Thomas, Kudus, Williams.
