Morocco hold 2018 finalists Croatia to 0-0 draw

Morocco held 2018 finalists Croatia to a 0-0 draw in the third goalless match of the World Cup so far, to kick-off day four of the tournament.

Despite a vibrant atmosphere at Al Bayt Stadium, chances for both sides were rare and neither ever looked like breaking the deadlock.

Both teams fought hard in a tight opening period, with Ivan Perišic firing over the bar for Croatia and Hakim Ziyech blasting a free-kick into the wall for Morocco.

The most obvious chance of the first half came just before half-time, when Croatia forward Nikola Vlašic shot at close range, forcing Morocco goalkeeper Bono into a reaction save.

Morocco were dealt a blow in the second half when Bayern Munich left-back Noussair Mazraoui limped off injured, with Yahia Attiyat Allah brought on to replace him.

Achraf Hakimi was awarded a free kick late on, which was perfectly on target, but Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic got his hands to it, ending the game 0-0.
