The Qatar national volleyball team had been selected by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to participate in the 2022 Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup, which is set to be held in Seoul, Korea from July 28 to 31.

The Qatari team will be pitted in the group that includes hosts Korea, Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba and Chile.

Regarding this choice, Mr Ali bin Ghanem Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar and West Asia Volleyball Associations, expressed his happiness with the participation of Qatar in the Volleyball Challenge Cup as the Asian representative, citing that the choice came after the team’s good background and high level shown in international competitions which allowed Qatar a chance to test their mettle in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship to be jointly hosted by Poland and Slovenia after the withdrawal of its original organisation from Russia due to its military operation against Ukraine.

Mr Ali said that the Challenge Cup is a good opportunity for the Qatari team, as it will serve as a good preparation for the team ahead of their participation in the World Championship, adding that the team will also participate in the Gulf Games which will be held in Kuwait as part of the team’s preparation for the World Championship.

He explained that the selection of the Qatari team to participate in this tournament has confirmed the distinguished level that the Qatari volleyball  has reached, thanks to the great support of the wise leadership in the country and the support of His Excellency Sheikh Joan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.

He concluded by saying, “The Qatari national team will organize a good preparatory program that includes internal and external camps and friendly matches in order to raise the players’ capabilities and achieve the best possible level of performance.”
